With the longtime metal-leaning venue Station 4 shuttered, this specialty record store is carrying on Lowertown St. Paul’s headbanging legacy. The sister store to a Dublin shop of the same name, Into the Void became the first Twin Cities shop geared toward breakdown and blast-beat connoisseurs since the Root Cellar closed in 2004. Into the Void has carted some of its stash — from death to doom, thrash to prog — to Minneapolis, playing DJ nights and one-off events, including a newly christened series at the Nomad (second Wednesday of each month).

Let It Be is an independently owned mail order record store featuring a wide variety of new and used vintage LPs, 45s and 78s. The store has acquired a vast inventory through large warehouse purchases. Its most recent purchase includes an entire warehouse full of dance vinyl and CDs from the late 1980s through the mid 1990s. The store offers search by specific artists or more generalized searches such as record titles and labels. Also, check out the real-time monthly online auctions of rarities. The store accepts safe credit card transactions or PayPal.

Treehouse Records is the current incarnation of a series of storied record stores at the corner of 26th and Lyndale in south Minneapolis. After becoming Oar Folkjokeopus in 1972 it quickly emerged as the epicenter for the burgeoning 70s and 80s Twin Cities punk scene. Renamed Treehouse in 2001 after the Oar Folk manager took over the business, the store remains a staple of the Twin Cities underground/independent music community and the best source for vinyl in the state.THIS STORE WILL BE PERMANENTLY CLOSED AS OF JAN 1st 2018.
